Dear EMAS student!
As you know, my name is Andrey Kolyada. I am the rector of EMAS. I am glad to welcome you at our business school!
You are watching the most important video of all the educational videos that you will have to watch during your studies at EMAS. We will talk about the new knowledge that you probably don't have yet. At the same time, this is not a standard set of knowledge, so to speak! ?
I am speaking to you on behalf of the entire team of EMAS Business School. I am here to save you from making one of the most common mistakes that some EMAS students used to make before this video. We hope this video will help you.
I’m sure that, when choosing a business school and program, you were highly scrupulous about it. You have chosen EMAS because it is one of the best business schools, and so is the program that you’ve chosen. This statement holds true for the content of the program, teachers, the level of your fellow students, networking, and other aspects of learning. In other words, you have chosen a very high-quality business school that delivers a sound education! As you might have already understood from the admission procedure, studying at EMAS is not easy, and sometimes even difficult because there is no high-quality education without persistent work, which helps to master valuable knowledge and skills. A high-quality prestigious business education implies hard work, time and effort to acquire new knowledge.
It is also apparent to us that you have entered EMAS not to have fun and not to just learn a little bit, something and somehow. On the contrary, you have entered EMAS in order to achieve specific personal goals and solve specific practical problems - to increase your income, boost your career, level-up your business, or successfully launch a startup. And this is exactly what we promise our students - if you study well and work on yourself, you will achieve the desired objectives.
Unfortunately, this is where the typical mistake of an EMAS student lies, and my team and I want to prevent you from making it. Surveys that we conduct among EMAS students show that salaries and careers of the majority of students begin to grow right during their studies! That is, the majority of students start earning more and boost their career very quickly, even before completing the program, before the defense of the graduation project and before obtaining a diploma! In other words, they achieve the desired goals thanks to their studies, even before graduation, that is, ahead of schedule! To call a spade a spade, this is because at EMAS, we teach you well and make you work on yourself. Thus, the vast majority of students begin to demonstrate better results in their work right during their studies, before they actually graduate. And they receive early remuneration for this such as rising income and career growth.
A person wanted to boost career and income through business education at EMAS, new knowledge and skills, and, of course, a diploma, which would confirm the qualification. And he has done it. He has done it ahead of schedule, before graduation! And it is the situation that is alarming!
What is so alarming about this fact, you ask? Why do I need to be careful? It is somehow strange for a business school to worry about the students’ early income and career growth, isn’t it? Isn’t this what we come to EMAS for?
We are not crazy, let me explain. But first, I'll tell you why many EMAS students achieve career and income growth ahead of schedule, before completing their programs. There is a good reason for this - the laws of the Universe! Believe it or not, that’s what the law of the Universe looks like in relation to the situation under discussion. The Universe helps those who take active steps towards their goal. This is very similar to a deal. A person gives something positive (in your case, studies well), and the Universe, in return, gives the person what he or she wants. Moreover, very often, a person receives it even earlier than he or she expected!
However, there is a nuance. The Universe constantly monitors if the deal is fair, whether a person complies with his or her obligation.
The law described above works with EMAS students as follows.
Once a student wants to boost his or her career and income or build a successful business, he or she starts either thinking or talking about these goals. No matter how you talk about your goals, the Universe always hears you! It sees that a person began to take active steps towards his or her goal - entered a good business school like EMAS, began to take modules, pass the first exams successfully and submit projects on time.
Well-well-well, the Universe thinks, the person has begun to fulfill his side of the bargain, so now I can give what he or she wants, the income and career growth that he or she wants! And very often it gives it all ahead of schedule, in advance, upfront, that is, before the person graduates! Apparently, when it is particularly impressed by the person’s efforts in studies.
That’s great, you might say. We may only be glad for those who achieved the desired growth ahead of schedule!
Well, of course, I agree with it. But here’s the thing that scares us. The thing is that many of the students who received the desired income and career growth before graduation believe that the job’s done. As a result, they give up on studies. They start missing deadlines. Their academic performance falls. They are not prepared when it comes to the final defense… In addition, they start making typical childish excuses such as “I’m so swamped with new work, it’s so time-consuming, you know; I have to pay attention to new tasks to prove myself. I’m so busy that I hardly have time to study and sleep.” The logical conclusion of all this is evident: the student quits their studies or constantly asks for an administrative leave, which, as a rule, comes to nothing…
As a person who has a good MBA degree and other academic background, I can honestly say that all this cheap and lazy storytelling is nothing but nonsense. The truth is that a student who has already achieved what he or she wanted no longer feels bound to study hard. A student, who once received an advance from the Universe, uses any excuse to justify a secret desire to go out with a bang.
Here’s the surprise – the Universe takes the stage again because the deal has not been closed yet…
Several months and sometimes even several years pass. The Universe understands that the student does not fulfill his or her part of the deal and has failed to perform the obligations in full. Once a student, well, most often now a former student, promised the Universe (just promised, he or she might have not even said it straight out) that in exchange for the growth of income and career, he or she would study well, graduate successfully and get a degree. But having received what he or she wanted ahead of schedule, before graduation, the student then forgot about his promise and did not finish the job – failed the exams and projects, did not complete the program, did not get a diploma. Instead of all this, he or she has only vague promises to get a degree sometime in the future...
The Universe does not forgive unfaithful people. You can never cheat on it! The Universe always takes away the undeserved career and income growth! If a person does not fulfill his or her part of the deal, the Universe takes back all the undeserved things! The indolent student faces troubles at work. Things start going wrong. Career is going nowhere. Income is falling. There is no development, no future.
Years go by, and there are fewer and fewer opportunities for growth. Suddenly, you’re 40, 45, 50 years old. Career prospects have faded forever. Remember, men and women, who in due course did not manage to get a cool education and make a brilliant career are not appointed top managers in the old age... Their fate now is to languish in poverty at the bottom of the corporate ladder till they retire. Even if they were once lucky enough to be directors...
This carousel of unfortunate events starts rotating when a student breaks his or her promise to the Universe. When enrolling at EMAS, he or she promised to complete the program and get an EMAS diploma. But the deal was broken! What the Universe once gave in advance is taken away as the undeserved.
Do you think I'm kidding? Do you think it’s ridiculous? Do you think I'm telling you some kind of nonsense? Nothing of the kind! We have statistics - lots of fresh examples from the last few years - examples of students whose careers and incomes grew right during their studies. Excited by the fact that the desired result had already been achieved, they gave up on studies. First, they came up with various excuses for why they didn't do projects, and then they simply quitted. After some time, the Universe took back everything given in advance because they didn't deserve it. They didn't fulfill their part of the deal! I know many such former students personally!
Graduates who have successfully completed the program and got a degree at EMAS do not experience such troubles.
At EMAS, we teach you cool professional things. Many of the knowledge and competencies that we give our students can’t be obtained in most other schools. Therefore, we have such great statistics, which I already told you about – the majority of our students boost their income and career even before completing the program, i.e. in a year and a half! But rather annoyingly, not all of them successfully complete their studies! And many of those who quitted studies fail to keep what they received...
Of course, the Universe is also fair for those who quit studies without the income and career growth given in advance. The logic remains the same, and a similar fate awaits them – poverty at the bottom of the career ladder in the old age.
Believe it or not, the Universe is fair. Since you have declared that you want growth in income and career, since you have declared that you do not want to live in poverty in the old age, since you have realized that you need to study to grow, get a good business education and an EMAS diploma, then be so kind to fulfill your end of the bargain. Study well, pass exams, submit projects on time, defend your graduation project and get your diploma! Only then you have the right to expect a response from the Universe. If you don't keep to your end of the deal, don’t wish you may get it!
Why do I tell you all this? Do not make the described typical student’s mistake! Do not cheat on the Universe, it can’t stand it! Fulfill your side of the deal faithfully - study well, complete all modules, pass exams and submit projects on time, get good grades, defend your graduation project honorably and get an EMAS diploma!
And then everything will be fine! My colleagues and I sincerely wish you much success in it!
