Speaking in Public and Presentation Techniques

The module is devoted to defining what a good public speakers means and analyzing ways of forming an image of a public speaker

The module is devoted to verbal and non-verbal constituents of eloquence and analyze presentation stages as well as basic principles of managing the audience while presenting. The program participants examine most typical mistakes of a public speaker that affect the presentation and learn how to avoid making such mistakes. They then work out a scheme of preparing the presentation which covers defining presentation goals, anticipating audience expectations, designing criteria for assessing the presentation effectiveness, considering meta-message and the role of the first impression in creating the emotional appeal

The module is devoted to an overview of what caters for a public speech language variety (lamprophony, thesaurus, metaphors, hyperboles, humour, rhetoric techniques, etc) and the techniques aimed at working on their voice (tempo, intonation, pitch), enriching active vocabulary, structuring their arguments, building phrases, etc

The module is devoted to ways of structuring a presentation to ensure the desired effect

The module is devoted to ways to build rapport with the audience including but not limited to non-verbal communication skills

The module is devoted to ways of how to work with difficult audience and handle difficult questions from different types of difficult participants

At the end of the traning the participants are given an opportunity to demonstrate their new skills and deliver a speech in public. Each program participant prepares and delivers a presentation on a certain topic with further analysis of his / her performance. The analysis is based on the video material filmed during the session. By the end of the session each program participant should complete a specially designed workbook which reflects all the course discussions and theoretical aspects of the tasks given to students
